I'm not sure what to say. I am an estimator for a 'Big Drywall' company. We specialize in the construction of hospitals. Which in the past, it will come back in the future, was a booming sector. We have noticed a significant reduction in the amount of jobs available to bid. Why? Projects are getting shelved or killed by the owners because of a lack of funding. In most cases hospital construction is financed through the issuing of bonds. Everyone is feeling the pinch. Even hospitals. Revenue is down and making owners nervous. So nervous that I know of a few projects that have a superstructure but have been abandoned.
A hospital can take a couple of years to design. There has to be a high number of projects, not just hospitals, that are on the board and have been canceled. In how many of these cases have Architects not been paid?
