Do you believe he is a hypocrite? Did the group mean it as a tribute?
Both answers are NO.
If it were a tribute:
- The group would not have sucked
- They also would not have painted their faces
Because everyone would have recognized the singing and the dancing from the iconic group.
Update, Additional Thought:
The show's producers, of Hey Hey It's Saturday Night, probably dug-up the "Mad" skit as a way to justify or cover-up there ignorance. If it was the Today Show producers. Shame on them.
